Now it’s your turn.

The Advancing Participation in Philanthropy Tool (APPT) is a self-assessment tool for grantmaking foundations to gauge where they currently are in terms of participatory practice across all areas of work and operations. The tool takes the form of a PDF document and an interactive digital assessment built on Typeform.

For this project, I was tasked with developing a visual identity for the APPT that encompasses the concept of voices coming together to create dialogue and the iterative process of participation. Using a range of bright colours, the APPT's visual identity reflects a sense of diversity and optimism. In addition to creating this visual identity, I designed the PDF and digital versions of the self-assessment and a website for promoting the tool.

Resembling a Möbius strip, the Advancing Participation in Philanthropy logo is a symbol of the iterative process of participation, which requires constant reflection and learning.

In the first month after launching the Advancing Participation in Philanthropy Tool website, we saw an impressive 760 user sessions. After implementing some Search Engine Optimization, we saw a rise to over 2,100 sessions in the month of November. After setting up an email signup form on the website, we saw over 40 people join the mailing list in one month.
